Permission to Pause

One of my writing group colleagues uttered the wise words, "permission to pause" and I quickly scribbled them down. I figured one day they would make their way into my writing. We were discussing mindsets during our writing group session back in April. It is September and it seems like I am experiencing the need to give myself permission to pause and adjust my mindset when it comes to my writing. I have not settled into a routine yet. Living the life of a writer means that we explore as we live life so that we have experiences to draw on for future writing.
So maybe I am not totally pausing, but rather giving myself permission to live a little in order to have more to write about. If you are finding yourself driven to get many things checked off your lists or with goals that you haven't met (yet), give yourself "permission to pause" and regroup. I think that many of us push ourselves so hard sometimes we fall into a rut or feel like we aren't making headway in what we want to accomplish. It is better to take a moment (or two) to recharge and readjust our mindset so we can move forward.
I hope you are having a good week and that you have time to rest and reset.
