The Rest of the Story

Hello Readers. Welcome to my blog, The Rest of the Story. I chose this title because I am now a retired teacher and my story is not complete. I have so much living to do. There is so much to learn and experience, and I am so glad that I was blessed with a career that has given me the opportunity to step away after 32 years to be able to explore... the rest of the story. If you choose to read my posts, I thank you in advance. If you don't that is okay. I know we are called to do so much. I wish you well either way.

My goal for this blog is a bit multifaceted:

• to have a spot for reflecting on life

• to be a place to share the transitioning from the workforce to retired life (and all that comes with that)

• a place to be a voice for the importance of reading and writing (including some book reviews and anything that might interest other readers)

More than anything this blog is to be my accountability for my writing life. Even though many writers write solely for themselves, some of us want to leave some sort of impact on others through the gift of words. That is something that resonates with me to my core. I think it is my desire to make sure I leave some sort of proof that I was here. I am quite aware that there are many people who do not share my passion for words. They find their passion in different hobbies and experiences. That is what is so exciting about knowing our family, friends, acquaintances, etc. One of my favorite quotes comes from Jella Lepman, " Imagine a world in which children cannot fight with one another because they have come to know each other through children's literature." I don't think everyone needs to read children's books, but if we teach the younger generations to understand our differences, imagine how much better off our world could be! So whether you are a a reader/writer or not, I hope you find my blog posts either educational, inspirational, or maybe even entertaining! This blog has been a goal of mine for a while so I am excited to get this launched today! Again, thank you for joining me and enjoy...the rest of the story.
