Last night my boys surprised me by asking me what my favorite movie is. I told them it was Made in Heaven (1987). They found it on a streaming service, and we watched it to round out our Easter Sunday. My husband and one of the boys asked me why it was my favorite movie. I told them that it is comforting to me to think of heaven the way it is depicted in the movie. That we are "recycled" if you would! The premise of the movie is that when we die and go to heaven, we may be assigned to come back to Earth as a new baby. There are even angels who have never been to Earth, but if you are called, you go! Sometimes you even come across people you once knew! Herein lies the love story in the movie. Mike and Allie met in heaven. Allie has to go to Earth, and Mike had recently arrived in heaven. He somehow manages to be granted the chance to go back to Earth to find Allie. After 30 years of searching without knowing he was searching (Happens to the best of us, huh?). he finds her on his 30th birthday. Then all is right with the world.

It was awesome to hear the music that I loved so much, but hadn't heard in a long time. Such wonderful memories flooded back as I heard Luther Vandross sing "There's Only You" and The Nylons sing, "Up the Ladder to the Roof." I couldn't be happier reliving great memories as I sat captivated by this sweet movie surrounded by my three guys. These feelings led me to think about how our memories can be recalled by a song, a phrase, a movie! It is amazing how 30+ years can go by and as soon as that memory is triggered, you are right back to being a 19 year old forming your of thoughts of heaven and how the person who you are to love for the rest of your life is out there. This person exists without your knowledge! You could be in the same room and not even be aware that they are who your heart is searching for. We have no understanding of how God sets this in motion, but He does! Thank goodness that His orchestration is perfect!

I know everyone has their view of heaven and I am not saying this is THE correct one. I simply like the comfort of this view. The constant I take with me is that God has it all planned out! That is comfort enough! If you get a chance to watch this tender movie, I recommend you do.
